What should you know before choosing a solo violinist?
Keep in mind that solo violinist provides melodies only and does not have the extensive arrangements of Broadway, Jewish and Latin pieces that are available for the String Trio and String Quartet. It`s important to consider your instrumentation when you choose your music.
Some Pop, R&B or Rock songs do not translate very well on solo violin. Why? If you think about modern songs, they often based around a lead singer ( melody) and usually supporting instruments such a guitars, piano, bass, and drums ( harmony). When you hire a solo violinist for your event, the melody violin plays needs to be strong and continuous. Unfortunately, that is not always the case with the modern songs that can have a few repetitive notes only. So for this type of song, you will need to book at least one more musician, such as a cellist or pianist to make it work.
Venue size and guest count.
If you having your wedding in a charming, tiny chapel in front of your 20 friends and family members, you may not be able to squeeze in a classical string quartet or a harpist. Likewise, if your ceremony is on the windy beach with estimating guest count of 150 people you may want to rethink just having a violin soloist.
